Power Driven Doweled Batwing Rocker Pedestals — 1989–1998 5.9L 12v Cummins
Rocker pedestal failure is one of the most common valvetrain issues on a modified 12v Cummins. Aftermarket valve springs, aggressive camshafts, and even prolonged stock use cause the factory pedestals to walk, rock, and deflect — leading to accelerated wear and eventual valvetrain damage. The Power Driven Doweled Batwing Rocker Pedestal solves this at the root: a stabilizing dowel on the small end engages a mating bore in the cylinder head, physically preventing the pedestal from walking under load.
These are 100% American-made, precision cast from 416 stainless steel — nearly 3x stronger than OEM pedestal material — then heat-treated and CNC machined. The nearly 90% wider base footprint dramatically reduces pedestal rocking and deflection, and each pedestal is fitted with a Power Driven Max-Lube Pin for enhanced lubrication at the rocker arm wear surface.

Break-In Procedure
Break-In Procedure
- Apply Cam Lube on all lobes, lifter faces, distributor gears, and oil pump gears.
- Oil all bearing journals and lifter barrels.
- Always turn the engine over by hand before starting. Check for clearances and proper timing location.
- Fire up to 1800 – 2000 RPM for 18 – 20 minutes.
Note: Most oil companies have taken
out a percentage of additives that are meant for anti-scuffing for the break-in on flat tappet cams, so please ask your local auto parts
professional for the best zinc additive they have and add it to your oil before you fire up your engine for the first time (we prefer ZDD
