Through extensive collaboration with leading performance shops, Colt Cams has developed reliable, high-performance camshaft profiles that enhance volumetric efficiency—expelling exhaust gases more effectively while drawing in fresh air. These upgrades deliver reduced exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs), increased horsepower and torque across the RPM range, and reliable operation up to 5,000 RPM.

Stage 4 Camshaft: This competition camshaft requires valve relief before installation. Precision-machined from a brand-new steel billet with a stock base circle diameter, it undergoes heat treatment five times deeper than OEM specifications for superior durability and wear resistance.

Break-In Procedure

Break-in on engines with roller tappets is not necessary, but recommended, as it may be helpful for parts longevity.

  • Apply Cam Lube on all lobes, lifter faces, distributor gears, and oil pump gears.
  • Oil all bearing journals and lifter barrels.
  • Always turn the engine over by hand before starting. Check for clearances and proper timing location.
  • Fire up to 1800 – 2000 RPM for 18 – 20 minutes.
